Refuge in Mother Nature

there was a pregnant mother in this group, which explains references to the child.

go from thinking mind down into heart and body – go into the heart first – from the heart feel the energy radiating out to the rest of your body – go to the ends of the fingers – down the arms to the ends of your fingers – down the legs into your toes – feel your whole body including your head – take the energy into your face – by energy I mean your awareness – into your face – to the end of your nose – the fruit bowl of the pelvis which holds your organs – and your child – feel that round strong bone that’s the centre of your framework – from the back of the pelvis arises the spine like a tree – follow it up the spine – as you follow the spine upwards let it open out and open upwards – let the beautiful graceful curve undulate – let the head float on the top of it –

we’re taking refuge in being in this body – by going around the body like this we inhabit the body – this body is the child of our mother nature – made out of the same elemental forces – feel that – my flesh is the same as the flesh of the earth – my blood is the same as the waters of the earth – my thoughts are the same as the winds that blow – air element – feel the whole of nature around you – the whole earth around you – the earth spreading out from beneath you over the whole planet – my body is the same as the earth –

can you feel a deep love of the earth – that the earth’s like a deep state of love – can you feel that in your body – which is the same as her – deep quiet presence of love – this is my refuge – my resource – this is the love the nourishes me – this is the love that nourishes all beings on this earth – this is the love out of which all forms arise – the love of mother nature that creates forms – babies – trees – clouds – feel that love in your body – the creative power of that love – this is my refuge – this is where I can stand and trust – in the wisdom that comes through me from the earth – who is my mother – feel how this mother earth is a refuge for all creatures upon her – who all share that love –

does it feel sacred – holy – precious – honouring – maybe not all these words are right for you – what is the feeling of connection with earth – that drives us to care for her – that our mother earth is worth caring for – because she’s precious and sacred – or whatever words work for you –

you might want to feel that feeling when you hear of some desecration of the earth – like mining or whatever – don’t think so much about the desecration – what happens in your heart – what is that feeling of that sacredness or preciousness – that happens when you hear what should not happen –

contact the feeling of why it should not happen – not a reason – a feeling – because earth is beautiful – life is beautiful – what’s your feeling of being a living being on this planet – your body is not only earth – it’s living earth – within one of us here there’s another living being – living being that comes from mother nature – what’s the feeling of the preciousness – specialness –

in your mind, look out over the earth – see that specialness in every little creature – every bee – this is what mother nature has produced – what her creativity does – every flowering plant – fruiting plant – this is my refuge – I am completely part of this life-creating process – I’m not separate in any way – I’m part of this stream and flow of life – interdependent with all other apparently separate creatures – feel in your own being the force – the power of that life – being aware – alive and conscious – heart beating – all the things that happen when we’re alive – our ability to feel both pain and pleasure – this life – that is me – my refuge – my safety that’s what refuge implies – I can relax and be safe in my life force – part of the flow of life that is all beings around me – relax – rest in that –

as we finish the meditation we share with all other beings everything we found in this meditation we share – knowing we share it anyway because we’re not separate – we share what is already shared –
